Esther Wells is the PWLT Volunteer of the Month for March
Esther Wells was recently the Assistant Stage Manager and Run Crew Chief for the critically acclaimed Head Over Heels! Her awesome work ethic and creative problem solving were instrumental in the success of the production.
She loves every part of the theatrical world, both onstage and backstage. She previously directed the WATCH Award winning White Christmas and has also played the comedic roles of Rosie in Mamma Mia and Annie in The Play That Goes Wrong, all at Fauquier Community Theatre.
By day, Esther is a high school math teacher for Prince William County Public Schools. She is also very active in her school’s theatre program where they are currently working on their production of Evil Dead The Musical: High School Version.
Whether performing or guiding a production from behind the scenes, Esther is grateful for every opportunity to help bring stories to life!

What is your experience in community theatre?
I have worn many hats in the community theater world, from Directing and Stage Managing to Scenic Art and House Management; as well as acting on stage. I love just being involved. It's my creative outlet outside of work.
What brought you to PWLT's Head over Heels?
Co-producer Melissa Jo York-Tilley reached out asking if I would be willing to work backstage on the show. I also knew many of the people involved with the show and wanted a chance to work with them again.
What is it like to run the show backstage as ASM and Crew Chief?
There's a lot of running around....and then a lot of waiting. There's also on the spot problem solving. It can be a bit hectic, but it's a good kind of hectic that I thrive in. I love being able to organize things and help keep a show running from the shadows.
What would you like us to know about your life outside of theatre?
What life outside of theater?? :-D Just kidding! My life cup runneth over with many things, including my loving husband, Jay, my dog, Kuzco, family and friends, and school!
