Draconia Craig is the PWLT Volunteer of the Month for July.
Draconia has been involved in theater for many years, working in educational, community, and professional settings. She is excited to pursue her passion of teaching this next school year, and share her love of the performing arts with children. Draconia said that she is "grateful, more reassured, and prepared, to take my knowledge, materials, and surrounding support, to the new theater department of Potomac Middle School all thanks to PWLT."
PWLT spoke to Draconia about why she started working with PWLT.
"Knowing that I would be starting my new career as a teacher in the performing arts, I wanted to get involved with PWLT to learn as much as possible and help my fellow theater community. I was greeted with kindness and learned much from the many different experts in all the skills it requires to make a successful production."
How was your experience working with PWLT and the Hairspray! crew?
"Working with PWLT was an absolute pleasure. I felt as though my contributions were greatly appreciated, that I had great purpose, and made a difference by volunteering. I have much gratitude for a long list of new friends and mentors that I met along the way."
Producer of Hairspray, Becky Gould-Levine had this to say about Draconia:
"Our immense appreciation also goes out to new PWLT volunteer Draconia Craig, a double-major graduate in theatre and communication who is truly a stand-out volunteer! Draconia recently moved to Prince William County and, thankfully for us, reached out to Prince William Little Theatre to volunteer. She immediately got involved and became an indispensable lead properties assistant and provided some excellent support to costumes on the show doing sewing work and quick changes during the show and the entire run of PWLT's Hairspray!
Draconia is not just a diligent volunteer; she's absolutely excellent in every sense of the word. Her positive attitude and tireless efforts made a huge difference! We truly hope that even as she embarks on a busy year as a first-year middle school theatre teacher with Prince William County Public Schools, she'll continue to grace our productions with her incredible talent and unwavering support. Thank you, Draconia, for being such a vital part of our team!"
