Ricardo Padilla Candidate for Member "At Large"
Ricardo's Personal Statement
Ricardo has been involved in community theatre since 2012. He auditioned for a local community production of And Then There Was None but didn't get cast. After not getting cast on his first audition try of his career, he asked the Producer of the show what he could do to help out the production. Ricardo was given the task of being the Stage Manager and Foley Artist. As a newcomer to the scene he brought a refreshing attitude behind the scenes and learned the ins and outs of stage management from the best. How do you get more of the community involved in the creative theatre experience? You do more outreach within the community. An organization has to reach out to new faces and new ideas to keep the organization fresh and productive. By focusing on diversity in the theatre, Ricardo would love to help PWLT expand it's program to the next level and help theatre in Prince William County reach more of the County. Ricardo wants people to take a greater notice of this "little" theatre company and for theatre afficianados to mention PWLT in the same breath as some of the community theatres closer to and in Washington DC. The talent is here, it's time the rest of the area notices. He loves theatre and hopes he is considered a good fit to help guide PWLT into the future.

Ricardo's Bio
Mr. Padilla is a certified Montessori teacher and has been in a classroom since 2000. As a 20 year professional, he has also used his skills to coach youth baseball and youth softball. He works in a quaint little school in Alexandria leading a mixed age classroom of Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Mr. Padilla, as the kids call him, will be starting his 3rd year at the River Farm Cooperative School in the Fall of 2020. Thanks to his drive, he was able to shift this classroom to an online remote learning experience without even one day of delay. The kids have responded well despite the social distancing procedures in place.
Mr. Padilla and his family moved from Texas in March of 2009 to Bristow, Virginia. In 2012, he began his journey into acting. He has been involved with several productions in the local area. His most recent roles have been as Uncle Louie in Lost in Yonkers, Versati in The Underpants, and Manuel in Captains Courageous. He has been involved in one PWLT production, The Diary of Anne Frank, where he portrayed Mr. Van Daan. Mr. Padilla has also been onstage in a few professional theatre productions as well as a few onscreen appearances on A&E, Showtime, and Amazon. Besides striving to become the best actor he can possibly be, he has also produced 2 area shows, directed a local talent showcase, and filled in as a sound operator.
Prior to moving to Virginia, Mr. Padilla graduated from Phillips University in Enid Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1995. Out of college he secured a job with the Fed Ex family and enjoyed working in Operations managing up to 125 people at a time. Obviously, the call to be an educator beckoned and he never looked back!
