April 2026 Volunteer of the Month

Picture
Kasey Moore is the PWLT Volunteer of the Month for April

Kasey was recently the Stage Manager for the critically acclaimed Head Over Heels! Kasey has been working with PWLT since flexing her skills on the set crew for The Sound of Music in 2022. Kasey continued her active membership by serving on the PWLT board as Secretary from 2023-2024. Kasey is proud to say that she cannot act sing or dance, but still finds an unending number of things to be involved with in the theatre.

PWLT sat down with Kasey to get a little more background.

What is your experience in community theatre?
My theatre experience only dates back 4 short years!  When my job permanently switched to remote during the pandemic and I had more free time (and less spent commuting) I was finally able to explore my lifelong interest in theatre.

What brought you to PWLT?
I've only ever worked with PWLT!  I found them via a Google search and I've had so many great experiences with them that I haven't felt the need to look elsewhere!

What does a stage manager do?
A stage manager provides organizational support across all levels of the production.  They attend rehearsals, keep meticulous notes on blocking, call technical cues during performances, and generally herd cats and solve problems you didn't know existed!

What is the most rewarding part of being a stage manager?
As someone with no innate talent for acting, singing, or dancing, but who doesn't lack control issues this role allows me to use my natural abilities to organize chaos and still participate in bringing a show to life!

What is the hardest part of being a stage manager?
It's a big time commitment!  But I never leave with any regrets!

What would you like us to know about your life outside of theatre?
I have to go to thrift stores at least 2-3 times a week just to dissociate!  Between raising my two girls (who play various sports), having a demanding job in advertising, and being an emotional support animal TO my dog, it's a must for my sanity!
