Directors. Anyone interested in running for President, Vice-President,

PWLT WINS REGIONAL
COMMUNITY THEATRE AWARD
Manassas, VA (March 3, 2008)
On behalf of Prince William Little Theatre, actor Dan Yount recently won
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama at the Eighth Annual
Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) Awards. The awards were
held Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Birchmere in Alexandria. Yount won for
his role as Henry Drummond in PWLT's Inherit the Wind, originally staged
at Baldwin Elementary School in Manassas in October.
"Dan was truly phenomenal among a fantastic ensemble cast. I extend my
warmest thanks and congratulations to Dan and the entire cast and crew
for a terrific production." said Dave Warner, PWLT's President.
Several members of PWLT were also nominated in the category of
Outstanding Set Painting for Inherit the Wind.
It was PWLT's second WATCH award, and 25th nomination, since the WATCH
Awards inception in 2000. PWLT also won for Set Dressing and Set
Decoration in 2000 for Watch on the Rhine.
PWLT has also won twelve Northern Virginia Theatre Alliance One Act
Festival Awards and four Virginia Theatre Association awards since 1991.

About WATCH
The Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) is an organization
founded for the adjudication and presentation of annual awards
recognizing artistic and technical excellence in community
theatre throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and that
these honors will foster and encourage the growth of community theater;
promote and enhance the image of community theater; and educate and
inform the general public about the theatrical opportunities provided by
the member theaters.

Note: Helper tied for Best Actress at the NVTA held in June, and Collins
won for Best Actor; Long was nominated for Best Supporting Actor,
Moorstein for Best Director, and Driving Miss Daisy was nominated for
best performance.
'Driving Miss
Daisy' a double winner for Prince William Little Theatre
This summer Prince William Little Theatre (PWLT) has staged several
award-winning performances of 'Driving Miss Daisy' in theater
competitions around the Northern Virginia region.
On June 16, PWLT participated in the 2007 Northern Virginia Theatre
Alliance (NVTA) One-Act Festival, held at the James Lee Community Center
in Arlington, Virginia. At the June 17 Awards Ceremony, PWLT received
nominations in five major categories: Springfield resident
Ardith
Collins for Best
Actor in a Leading Role, Manassas resident
Mona Kay Helper
for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Manassas actor
Carl Long
for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, PWLT co-founder
Susy Moorstein for Best
Director, and the production was also nominated for Best Overall
Production. Collins won for Best Actor in a Leading Role and Helper tied
for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
On the strength of the performance at NVTA, PWLT participated in the
Virginia Theatre Alliance (VTA) One-Act Festival, held August 25 at
Centreville High School in Clifton. PWLT again brought home
two awards:
Collins was again recognized for his performance with a Judges’
Discretionary Award for Excellence, and the production received the
Runner-Up award for Best Production.
PWLT first staged “Driving Miss Daisy” in October 2006 at Baldwin
Elementary School in Manassas.
About Driving Miss
Daisy
Driving Miss Daisy is a Pulitzer Prize winning 1987 play by Alfred Uhry
about an elderly Southern Jewish lady and her relationship with her
African-American chauffeur, Hoke Colburn, over several decades. The play
was also made into a film starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy. The
film won the 1989 Academy Award for Best Picture, and Tandy won for Best
Actress.
